In 2002 we were approached by investors to work with the newly acquired UIM ‘World Endurance Racing Championship’ because of our people’s reputation for delivering high value sports, marketing and business development projects. We developed a dynamic approach to major event development and marketing, for revenue generation and costs offsetting.

After an initial consultancy period Martin McDonald was asked to join the Board of Powerboat P1 as its first commercial director and over a subsequent period of nearly 5 years he was directly responsible with the CEO for:

  • Creating and organising more than 20 major international Grand Prix events
  • Facilitating 40 grand prix races
  • Creating the new Powerboat P1 global brand, giving it meaning and IP value
  • Generating €multi-millions in revenues to build and support the P1GP events
  • Opening new European markets and venues
  • Concluding across the board organisational and supplier negotiations
  • Including generating long-term government support commitments
  • Building a strong team of fully motivated people capable of delivering major events
  • Building major marine manufacturer and blue chip relationships
  • Leaving a legacy which has been claimed as the sport’s benchmark around the world and by the Union Internationale Motonautique (the sport’s governing body).
